〈 CHARACTER INFO 〉
CHARACTER NAME: Zarina
CHARACTER AGE: around 16 or 17
SERIES: The Pirate Fairy
CHRONOLOGY: post movie
CLASS: hero
HOUSING: random. any city is fine, too.

BACKGROUND:
Zarina was born and raised in Pixie Hollow, which is run by Queen Clarion, as all fairies are after being born from the laugh of a baby. Pixie Hollow as a whole is located somewhere in Neverland, which is only accessible by flying through a pair of stars, the second star from the right specifically. Pixie Hollow is divided up into four areas, one for each season, though the warm weather fairies weren't allowed to visit winter, or vice versa, as the range in temperatures could damage the fairies' wings or health. However, even that changed and now warm weather and cold weather fairies are allowed to coexist as they did long ago. Each season in Pixie Hollow is responsible for bringing their respective season to the mainland by using their talent to give nature its life and glow. Each fairy is vital to Pixie Hollow, as the seasons cannot run without all fairies working together.

Each fairy is sorted into a talent when born, the known ones being light, fast flying, water, animal, garden, tinker, scout, and dust keeper. Water fairies can manipulate water, fast flying fairies can make winds, animal fairies communicate and teach animals how to behave like their respective species, tinker fairies are responsible for building items to help make life easier and able to build just from the resources around them, garden fairies grow plants, light fairies can bend light, scout fairies are ther as guardians to protect Pixie Hollow from outside threats, and dust keeper fairies are in charge of nurturing, processing, and distributing pixie dust to all the other fairies. Each talent has set duties that help run and maintain Pixie Hollow, and all of the seasons with it. At the start of every season, fairies of every talent leave Neverland, and go to the mainland (what we know as our world), and bring the seasons to the world.

Zarina specifically is a dust keeper fairy, one who chose to go against the cardinal rule of dust keepers: never tamper with pixie dust. She was able to create new colored dust (differing from the regular bright yellow pixie dust) of every major talent known in Pixie Hollow. But after an experiment gone wrong, Zarina had ruined a portion of Pixie Hollow, and the dust keeping factory where she worked. After being banned from dust keeping, she fled from Pixie Hollow, only to return one year later to steal the blue pixie dust, the dust capable of creating flight pixie dust.

After successfully stealing the blue pixie dust, Zarina revealed another capability of the dust she created, that being she can switch a fairy's talent with another. She demonstrated this to stop Tinker Bell and her friends from taking the blue dust back to Pixie Hollow. When they group catches up with her, they discover she's become the captain of a crew of pirates and has been busy the past year working to make another pixie dust tree in a secret cave in order to make more pixie dust, as the dust needs a special tree to cultivate and flow. She wants to go to the mainland with the pirates and travel the world, stealing all the priceless artifacts and treasures across the globe. The fairies try once again to take back the blue dust from Zarina, but fail and are captured in the process. Zarina finally finishes up with the pixie dust tree, letting the blue dust flow into the tree and make a river of dust for the pirates to use.

But once the crew realizes that they've got what they needed, they betray Zarina and James, her second in command, locks her up in a lantern and reveals they lied to her the whole time they were together, only using her to achieve their own goals. Meanwhile, Tinker Bell and her friends escape and manage to take the vial of blue pixie dust, but James threatens to drown Zarina if they don't return it. They do so, and the pirates cover the ship in pixie dust and begin flying off as James drops Zarina into the ocean. Tinker Bell and her friends save her, and they all band together to retrieve the blue dust. They give chase and begin to battle the pirates on the ship, using their new talents to defeat the pirates, and eventually turn the ship upside down, causing all the pirates to fall off. Zarina obtains the blue dust, and tries to get her friends out of a bag they'd been stuffed in, only as James makes his comeback covered in pixie dust and steals the dust back.

Zarina and James engage in one last air battle, the dust passing between hands constantly. When it seems Zarina is beaten, she notices a drop of blue pixie dust in front of her. James lets her take it, and she instead throws it right back at him. Blue pixie dust is far more powerful than regular dust, so it causes James to fly around out of control. Zarina takes the opportunity to steal the dust back, and once all the pirates are stranded in the ocean, Zarina finally returns back to Pixie Hollow at the wish of her friends. She is welcomed back with open arms, and her new pixie dust, which she calls pixie dust alchemy, is respected rather than frowned upon this time. Her adventure ends with her putting on a show to demonstrate her abilities, and returning all her friends' talents to them.

PERSONALITY:
First and foremost, Zarina is a curious person, constantly fiddling around with pixie dust (even on the job), even going so far as to be referred to as "the Tinker Bell of dust keeper fairies". Zarina even goes so far as to play around with the pixie dust when she's on the job. Her curiosity also easily gets her into trouble, as when she ruined a large portion of the pixie dust depot while inventing new pixie dust. Unfortunately, Zarina isn't the best at being able to face her problems. She really did try to help rebuild it, owning up to her own mistakes and follies, but even so, Fairy Gary (her boss) fired her on the spot for disobeying the one rule he gave her. This crushed her, and rather than try to make a new life for herself, or protest harder to fix what she'd done, Zarina hurriedly packed her bags and fled Pixie Hollow that same day.

Sadly, she isn't the type to think too hard about the consequences of her actions, such as when she joined up with James and the other pirates. She chose to blindly lead them, simply because they treasured her talent after feeling like the entirety of Pixie Hollow had abandoned her. She was honestly very gullible to buy into it, especially when pixies are told to never trust pirates, and a large majority of pixies are terrified of pirates, which was why their betrayal after she'd stolen the blue dust hurt her even deeper. Zarina felt as if she truly had no one who appreciated or respected her talents, that she only made things worse. Zarina will be the first to admit when she's made a terrible mistake, though, and does everything in her power to set it right, either with help or by herself. She was more than willing to put in many extra hours to rebuild the depot, and she was determined to do everything she could to stop the pirates from stealing their blue dust. She may not heavily consider consequences, but Zarina will be first in line to amend her mistakes.

Despite these facts, Zarina is by no means stupid or unintelligent. One has to be very smart to be able to make pixie dust. She studied the different ingredients and brewing methods extensively, went through plenty of trial and error attempts before she finally perfected her pixie dust alchemy. To prove this, she's able to perfectly command an entire crew, and even be able to control the ship on her own. She's intelligent, resourceful, able to take command, and isn't afraid to throw her weight around and stop people from looking down on her. When a crew member questions why they're taking orders from a pixie, she responds by throwing a knife at him, narrowly missing his face.

Zarina is strong, and definitely not afraid to take people on in a fight, even while the odds are stacked against her. Over the year she was gone, she hardened herself a bit, regained the confidence she lost, and greatly improved her pixie dust alchemy. As horrible as they were, those experiences made her tougher, both in personality (being able to control rowdy pirates) and in strength (taking on James, a fully grown human, and winning in a sword fight). She even shows no mercy to her former friends, purposely messing up their talents when she threw dust at them, and placing a trap and locking them up when they tried to steal the dust back. Zarina is undeniably a bit selfish, thinking of how she never felt wanted or respected for what she could do for pixie dust back home. That isn't to say she doesn't know how to have fun. People always saw her with a smile on her face back home, and nothing gave her more joy than playing around with pixie dust and talking with her friends. She lets her fun side out even around the pirates as they sing and dance, and she was overjoyed when taking James out on his first flight.

Despite switching sides so much, Zarina is fiercely loyal to those she holds dear. She worked hard to steal that pixie dust for the pirates and to make their dreams of traveling and pillaging the world come true. But she still felt obvious sadness at having to lock up her friends for trying to stop her from doing everything she could be. In the end, she knows her true friends are the pixies, and rather than just back away from her problems again, she faces them head on, engaging the pirates in battle alongside her friends, and eventually defeating James and the crew. However, even after having redeemed herself this way, her mistakes stuck with her. She still felt regret over stealing the dust and running away from home, and was even willing to leave once again until her friends protested this. It warmed her to know that she did have a place to return to, a place where people loved her and her talents, wouldn't judge her for what she truly wanted to do to feel free. And it wasn't just her friends, Zarina was welcomed back into Pixie Hollow by Queen Clarion, and even Fairy Gary. Both of whom were very excited to see what she had done with her new pixie dust alchemy over the year. Overjoyed to be welcomed back Zarina put on the best show of her life to display her own special talent and flair.

And if there's one thing Zarina definitely has, it's her own special style. She specially embroidered her apron to stand out, something she's never really minded doing. She knows she's different from most pixies, but she embraces it and has fun with it. It gives her confidence, giving her that sass to her attitude that she's not afraid to use on anyone, especially on her own crew or in the middle of a fight to display her confidence. Sometimes, though, Zarina can come off as reckless or impulsive. The entire depot disaster is a good example of Zarina boldly taking risks that should've been calculated better. The same could be said for her crew, as well. She simply became a pirate, without question. She picks fights and talks back to James and her crew, even after they captured and beat her for a time. It can easily go as bravery or recklessness, but either way, Zarina stands up for herself, takes risks for herself, and it has gotten her places, even if it hindered her at other points.

POWER:
Pixie dust manipulation:
Since Zarina was able to create her own types of pixie dust, she'll be able to simply wave her hand and make whatever form of pixie dust she wishes. This includes fast flying, water, light, tinker, animal, garden, and flight dust. As a bonus, anyone she sprinkles with a specific type of dust will hold that talent for 48 hours, or once they become completely drenched in water. Specifics to their abilities and limitation etc are as follows:
- fast flying: able to produce whirlwinds, their size depending on how fast she is going, but they'll never be large enough to make a tornado or do very serious damage. her top speed will be roughly 120 mph.
- water: roughly the same as waterbending, they'll be able to hold and morph water as they please, able to create air bubbles when the submerge, or raise waves. the limit to wave size will be about seven feet in height.
- light: able to bend sunbeams and moonbeams, or any kind of natural light. so they won't be able to bend light from a flashlight or lamp. the reflected beams always come out to about the same size, only magnified by a lens of some sort. the reflected sunbeams can burn if they're strong enough, like on a hot day, or they hold the beam in place for a minute.
- tinker: they'll become much more intelligent about mechanics and engineering, able to build a multitude of devices from the resources around them. man-made technology will be a new thing for tinkers, so they'll be able to build from new materials, as well, but nothing too advanced. nothing that hasn't been invented before, but they'll be able to build it within hours, possibly a day or two depending on the difficult. it won't be too spectacular, though, just average. for example, a quick build would just be a mini to medium size fridge or lamp. a difficult build something like a motor powered scooter.
- animal: fairly simple, they can communicate and talk with animals. no controlling abilities, so no, you can't amass a bunny army.
- garden: also an easy one. they can speed up the growth process of plants as long as they have seeds. making a garden of daisies would happen within a minute, but growing something like a full grown pine tree would take roughly three minutes. the farthest they could get with large trees, such as redwoods, would be half grown.
- flight: basically, all they can do is fly around. there's no limit to how high you can go, but at some point, you'll need to breathe. they won't be able to go nearly as fast as fast flying dust would make them, but they can cruise along at about 30 mph.

Size manipulation:
She can change size from her usual pixie size of five inches to roughly five feet four inches at will.

COMMUNITY POST (VOICE) SAMPLE:

(the audio flips on, and all that can be heard at first are annoyed hums and fingers furiously tapping away at the phone. the camera turns on moments later, to show a girl with the tip of her tongue sticking out of the corner of her mouth, brushing her auburn hair out of the way.) Is it working?

(zarina flips the device around, the camera blurring from the speed she's moving it around at.) I'm pretty sure even something like this would put Tink's work to shame. (she finally makes the device face her, expression trying to remain calm, but anger lines are sneaking through to show on her face.) So, I understand the whole "needing help in a fight" thing about this place, but for the love of Davy Jones, dragging us here with very little room to ask any questions is something I'm not okay with. At all.

(she flicks her hand at the last statement, pink, sparkling dust flying out of her hand, and zarina just stares at it in shock. moments later, a tree shoots up, full grown within seconds, and zarina drops her phone as she panics and tries to shrink it.) What?! No no no, stop growing, I'm not even a garden fairy, this isn't-- (her sentence stops dead there as she clings to the tree like that will make it shrink, and zarina rushes over to pick up the phone again. this time, a little less calm than before.) They mentioned we have powers here, right? Does anyone have tips on uh... controlling them?

FINAL NOTES: she'll be coming in with the sword she used for a majority of the movie, as well! it'll change size with her when she grows, too.
